If not already, the barbecue season will soon begin. Some would think that barbeque equals ” barbecuing meat ,” but it is really not, and nowadays it is claimed that everything can be grilled, so here are some expected and perhaps more unexpected tips for this summers barbecue in a plant based style.
1. Summer squash and zucchini
Simple and good to grill. You just cut in pieces, either lengthwise or short side and brush with a little oil and then put them on the grill. Turn after a minute or so, depending on how hot your grill is .
2. Small onions, asparagus and green beans
Because these are small, but very good to grill , it is important to ensure they do not fall down between the cracks in the grill. Turn them in olive oil and salt and pepper and then thread them on two sticks so that they are easy to turn.
3. Potatoes pockets
A really good and fun way to create activity around the grill is to let everyone make their own potato pockets. Prepare by cutting potatoes into thin slices and place in a bowl of water so that they stays fresh. Put on the table tinfoil, salt, pepper , soya cream / milk and oil. When grilling, everyone takes a piece of foil , fill with potatoes and spices of his choice and then place on the grill.
Either you can buy fresh corn who still has the skin on, while grilling these you do it with the skin on. Grill until the skin turned black and then remove it. If you buy frozen or pre- cooked, grill on high heat for a short while .
Grilled corn is great to eat it directly or you can cut off the corns and mix it into a salad.
Sweet peppers are grilled until the skin is black, and then pull it off and hey you got a grilled peppers. It may be easiest to do with the whole peppers and not in pieces .
Then you can use the pepper to make either a really good dressing or cut into slices and put on the burger as an added touch .
6. Portobello mushroom
Want to make a different burger, try grilling portobello mushrooms, they are larger and easier to handle on the grill. Marinate the mushrooms in olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper and oregano in 15-20 minutes before you put it on the grill to get it more flavor.
7. Serve lots of good extras
A simple way to enhance a barbeque is to make sure to serve are a lot of good extras. Here you can be just as creative as you want but some suggestions are fresh lettuce, sprouts, dill , tomatoes, salad, dressings of all kinds and fresh fruits (melon, banana ) .
